@Jennifer Larson - (Follow-up) Sorry again, I've no real experience with them. In my opinion, people would do better if they used their own service (right off their own site and server). However I have come across another option here: http://mailinbox.ca/

@Jennifer Larson - I've never used them. I don't use any of these services as I find most users send the messages to their junk boxes or the messages get marked as spam. The best approach is to send eNewsletters to people you know (or who have specifically requested a subscription). While I don't know their costing, you might find it more cost effective to run the subscription system off your existing server. I have a few clients that are doing just that. Maybe this works for you (I don't know), but a least I hope it gives a heads-up to see other aspects as well.

Please keep me updated! :) I'm also on twitter at http://twitter.com/BloggerSavvy
Thanks!

I'm so glad I saw this on twitter! My client just told me yesterday that he wants to start an email campaign, and the tips you've given here are great. My client has signed up for Constant Contact, which I've used before with another client. Do you know anything about them, or have any specific tips for them?

So it's coming very soon! - Thanks :)

Great post, thanks. I'd also be interested about the plugins you use that work the best for blogs. I have followed your Ubuntu blog for a bit, so was wondering if there were some plugins that would work well with marketing and other stuff. Thanks.

@Shelly - Thanks, I'm glad that it was helpful. As to your comment about including readers...

I learned that when I launched my other blog (http://ubuntulinuxhelp.com), the readers actually jumped in with suggestions and help when they thought I needed it. Initially it took me off-guard as I didn't think the "community" was that vocal, or considerate. I learned a lot from those readers, so needless to say, I hope the same holds true here.

Again, thanks for your input.

This is a great blurb! I like that it is indepth and not just a basic top 10 list.
I also liked that you actually said to include visitors in the marketing process.

It is so refreshing to see that there are still some blogs out there that are smart enough to realize this. Way to go!

I will be sure to visit again - For a brand new blog, you are doing really good.

Wow is this ever a good post! REALLY GOOD!!!!!!!!!
Long, but it's worthwhile. Really put this in perspective for me. There were some things I did not think about.
